Dry Needling
Myofascial dry needling is an extremely effective way of managing pain arising from the soft tissue structures of the body (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia). Acupuncture needles are inserted into active trigger points (focal areas of tight muscle fibres that cause pain) to relieve pain, resolve referred pain and restore movement.
Stimulation of trigger points with dry needling can desensitise these points and the associated referral pain areas, promote healing through increasing blood supply to the area and enhance production of endorphins (the body's own natural pain reliever).
In conditions that have been non-responsive to other conservative treatments or in situations of chronic muscular tightness, we have often found dry needling to be an extremely effective adjunct when used in conjunction with other treatment interventions.
